The 10th Edition of the Geriatrics Review Syllabus is soon going to press, and I am pleased to announce that I authored the revised Pressure Injury and Wound Care chapter. This chapter covers much of the material I wrote in the 9th Edition, but has critical updates including greater emphasis on palliative care for wounds and changes in nomenclature recommended by the National Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel (NPUAP), where I recently completed a three year term as a board member.
The full title of the publication is Geriatrics Review Syllabus: A Core Curriculum in Geriatric Medicine, 10th Edition (GRS10). It is published by the American Geriatrics Society and contains the latest developments in geriatric medicine, and includes a self-assessment program for the Maintenance of Certification (MOC) credits. The GRS is a concise, comprehensive reference on geriatric medicine, and is considered the authoritative resource for doctors preparing to take board examinations, and a teaching resource for residents, students, and other trainees.
The American Geriatrics Society (AGS) – publisher of the GRS – is a nationwide, not-for-profit society of geriatrics healthcare professionals dedicated to improving the health, independence, and quality of life for older people. I have been a Fellow of this organization for over two decades.
Several packages are available for those wishing to purchase the GRS, including print and digital versions. My chapter entitled Pressure Injuries and Wound Care can be purchased separately by following this link. I am proud to be a part of this educational program for training physicians to take better care of older adults.
