The thing I love most about Manhattan is that it is endlessly photogenic.  This past weekend my wife and I went to Manhattan’s Chinatown to watch the New Year’s parade in celebration of the Year of the Dragon – one of the most revered years of the Chinese calendar.

The Chinese zodiac is based on a 12-year cycle, and calculated according to a lunar calendar.  The Dragon is a creature of myth, legend, and power which brings good fortune.  According to the Chinese horoscope, the Dragon will give happiness and success to good and honest people, and also to those who have great talent.  It’s a good year to start a family, and children born in the Dragon year will be healthy and smart.

Dragons are colorful and flamboyant, confident and free-spirited.  People like Dragons because they banish fear and make loyal marriage partners.  In a Dragon year, everything is multiplied tenfold, and it’s a good time to start new and ambitious projects, but you need to start early.

Sunday in Manhattan was cold and brisk – a perfect day for a colorful parade marking an auspicious time.  I hope you enjoy my portfolio and wish everyone a happy and healthy Year of the Dragon!
